Meet the Teacher

I am linking up with Stephanie from Falling Into First for her Meet the Teacher linky! I have loved reading more about some of my favorite bloggers. I don't normally share a lot of personal things here, but I wanted to join the fun!
I was born and raised in middle Tennessee, which I like to call God's Country. I grew up in a small town that has only 3 red lights and everyone knows everybody. After college, I moved to South Carolina where I lived for six years. Last year (the week before Christmas) we moved to Georgia, where we now reside. I long to move back to my little hometown one day, but we are enjoying life where we are.

I am married to my husband Joe and we have one son together. He is the LIGHT of our lives and being a Mom is my favorite thing in the world. I swear I love that little boy more and more every day!

I am entering my 7th year of teaching. All of those years have been in either 4th or 5th grade. Even though I enjoy my older students, I would LOVE to move down and teach little ones one day!

We have two miniature schnauzers named Maggie and Molly. Maggie (right) and Molly (left) are sisters. Maggie recently tore her cranial cruciate ligament and we hope to find out this next if she will need joint repair surgery. We also have a Betta fish named Matty who is literally on his last leg, so to speak. We aren't sure what's wrong with him.

These are a few of my favorite things:

Pool days, family dinners, flip flops, summertime, church, music, daisies, anything monogrammed, the beach, reality television, fresh fruit, children's literature, & fall leaves.

If I wasn't a teacher, I would be:

I loved life as a stay at home mom so that would be my first choice! Maybe something with animals would be another choice.

Three little words that describe me:

Caring, loving, quiet {my husband would disagree with the quiet part!}

FINISH THIS SENTENCE, "________" SAID NO TEACHER EVER:

"The summer went by SO slow" said no teacher ever.

Q: It's your birthday and you can invite anyone {dead or alive} to the party. Who would you invite?

Probably someone from the Bible...Jesus, Mary, Moses, David, Paul....the list could go on and on. Imagine what you could learn from them!

Q: If someone wrote a book about your life, what would it be titled?

I am going to go with "The Blessed Life". My life is far from perfect and not like I had imagined (I never planned/wanted to move away), but it sure is blessed in so many ways!

Q: You get to pick one superpower. What would it be?

Hmmm, I'm not sure. Maybe the power to heal.

Q: What's your favorite quote or saying?

I have so many! I LOVE inspirational quotes! My favorites are Bible verses or quotes that lift me up.

Q: If you had to sing one song on American Idol, what would it be?

Lately I am finding lots of inspiration from Christian contemporary music and I find myself listening to it more and more. So, I'd probably pick "Never Once" by Matt Redman or "One Thing Remains" by Jesus Culture.

Q: Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I guess I'd say a morning person, but I don't like getting up too early. I'm definitely not one to stay up late!

Q: What's your favorite resource that you've created in your TP shop?

I am still pretty new to TPT so I don't have a lot of products. I also don't have a lot of time to create products and I don't recreate the wheel a lot. TPT has so many wonderful resources that I buy more than I create and sell! However, I created my Valentine's Math Packet to use with my 4 year old so it was a labor of love, so to speak. I loved my time home with him when we did "school" each day!

Q: Share something we might not know about you.
I love to be adventurous and try new things! Some of my favorite things I've done:
  • Swam with sharks in the Bahamas {It was years ago and we were not protected by a cage or anything. The sharks were way far down, but it was WILD!}
  • Visited a drive in volcano at Sulphur Springs in St. Lucia
  • Went ziplining in the rainforest in St. Lucia
  • Swam with dolphins
  • Rode an elephant and camel
